Tourism

Developing the tourism sector is of great importance to Oman as it diversifies economic revenues.

Tourism is one of the fastest growing non-oil industries contributing to the national economy, and has thus seen one of the highest revenue increases.

Tourism in Oman is structured to promote economic diversification, preserve the nation’s cultural integrity and protect the environment.

ASAAS is working towards fulfilling the tourism sector’s potential valuation of USD 20 billion.

The industry is being developed as a sustainable socio-economic sector in a manner that reflects the Sultanate’s cultural heritage and ethos of traditional hospitality.

Tourism: A Key Contributor to Oman’s Gross Domestic Product

With a rising 3% contribution to Oman’s GDP, the industry has solid growth potential and now plays an increasingly important role in attracting foreign investment and generating local employment opportunities.

With a view to achieve a 5.9% contribution to the GDP by 2040, ASAAS is working to realize the sector’s potential valuation of USD 20 billion, as noted by Oxford Business Group (2015).
